Important Update: Official Journal Name Change

Dear Readers, Authors, and Reviewers,

We are pleased to announce that our journal has officially updated its name from the Iraqi Journal of Microbiology and Biomedical Sciences (IJMBS) to the Iraqi Journal of Microbiological Sciences (IJMS).

This strategic update comes in compliance with the instructions and regulations of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, ensuring that our journal focuses on a highly specialized and unified scientific domain. Please be assured that our core mission and scope remain unchanged. We will continue to welcome and publish high-quality, peer-reviewed research across all branches of microbiological sciences, including medical, applied, and molecular microbiology, along with their clinical applications.

All previously published articles in our initial issues,, will transition seamlessly and maintain their full indexing and academic value under the new title.

We thank you for your continued support and look forward to receiving your valuable research contributions.

Editorial Board, IJMS

Volume 1, Issue 2 (August 2026) of the Iraqi Journal of Microbiological Sciences (IJMS) presents four peer-reviewed original research articles contributed by researchers from various Iraqi academic and research institutions.

The articles featured in this issue address a diverse range of contemporary topics in microbiology and biomedical sciences, including antimicrobial resistance and carbapenemase genes, biofilm-forming bacteria and their clinical significance in diabetic patients, immunological biomarkers associated with inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, cytokine-mediated inflammation in severe bacterial pneumonia, and the computational analysis of environmental pollutants and their effects on antioxidant enzymes.

Collectively, these studies reflect the growing scope of microbiological, immunological, clinical, and computational research in Iraq, highlighting the importance of understanding microbial resistance, bacterial pathogenicity, immune dysregulation, inflammatory responses, and environmental influences on human health.

This issue represents another important step in the development of the Iraqi Journal of Microbiological Sciences (IJMS) as a platform for disseminating high-quality scientific research and promoting collaboration among researchers in microbiology, biomedical sciences, and related disciplines.
